The present study, authored by Dr. Caloy Arcilla in collaboration with researchers from Japan and Switzerland, characterizes the Bigbiga site as a dynamic natural analogue system. At this locality, laterally continuous Ca-bentonite strata overlie ophiolitic basaltic lavas, thereby constituting an effective natural seal that restricts the advection of ascending hyperalkaline groundwaters.
Empirical data derived from exploratory drilling and in-situ field experiments substantiate active geochemical buffering at depth. This is evidenced by groundwater pH measurements ranging from 6.7 to 9.6, in conjunction with anomalous thermal gradients and soil-gas compositions.
Doc Caloy had it subjected to analysis in a laboratory. Results showed that the water from his farm is natural alkaline water, abundant in minerals that are said to have purifying and healing benefits. Deeming it as a "Gift from Mother Nature" and "God's Blessing". Doc Caloy believed this water was meant to be shared with other people. He decided to bottle it and named it Alkaloi.
